Dragon Scale Armor - bonus content

hi all i have in-putted my bonus code now im level 19 in the game hoping that the Dragon Scale Armor would be a higher stat piece as i tried it at level 2 and the item level was 15 and even though im now level 19 its still spawns a level15 piece?

my question is after looking at this link it says the i quote
http://twoworldsvault.ign.com/fullstory.php?id=58512

Quote:
Displayed as the single piece, it nevertheless occupies all the slots except the helmet, disallowing wearing trousers, gloves and boots. Don't worry though, the armor's stats are so good you won't be craving any clutter items from other sets anyway. If you think the protection percentages seem ordinary, think again: it's total protection counted for a single piece that covers four different slots. If you were to wear ordinary heavy armor pieces in its place, the outcoming protections against slashing and bludgeoning might not be as high - full sets of light, chainmail or heavy armor only provide 30-40 percent resistance using 5 pieces at once; this one gives 30 percent slashing and 60 percent bludgeoning resistance with but one piece, and you can still wear a helmet to boost that value - or a magic hat and a staff to become a heavy-armored mage.
my problem is im only level 19 yet i have armor im using now that is WAY WAY hire total value over the dragon armor or the stats they state, it says thats the dragon armor takes the place of all but the helmet slots which means im my case the over all values are....

Quote:
with dragon armor + helmet

Slashing Protection: 30% + 35%
Bludgeoning Protection: 60% + 6%

so a total of slash = 65% / bludge = 66%

Quote:
with my complete armor set i use

Slashing Protection: 5% + 35% + 33% + 25% + 25%
Bludgeoning Protection: 35% + 6% + 12% + 16% + 16%

so a total of slash = 123% / bludge = 85%

heres my items i use at this moment

No, you've got 5 pieces of armour from 5 different sets, you need them all to show 5/5 then you have a full set. I believe that gives a further 10% bonus to protection stats but doesn't actually show. Also the stats on the armour only appertain to the region that the piece of armour covers, so the Dragon Scale armour gives an all protection whereas the individual pieces only give protection to each vertical region.

Re: Dragon Scale Armor - bonus content

ok so im ment to ware sets of armor even though a set would mean less overall protection?

so does different regions make a difference in the game, i mean isnt armor armor, the foes dont hit in a particular place and ive never lost a leg or anything when i use to play with no armor on my legs?

EDIT
why would a person ware a set when random finding work better?

Re: Dragon Scale Armor - bonus content

this game would be much better if it showed the protection my player has, i can only find the weapon damage by putting cursor over the weapon but armor doesnt have this feature, this is the only rpg i know that doesnt have a player stat screen like every other rpg game

Re: Dragon Scale Armor - bonus content

Because this is the only game that gives you exactly what it displays. There're no full stats because the armors defences aren't additive. Each piece protects each region (as in classic paper/pen RPGs), that's it, they don't add to some magical super protection -- forget about wearing super boots to become invulnerable to shots in the head.

So, Dragonscale armor gives you fixed, predictable protections for all the slots it occupies; if someone hits you in one of those areas, that slot's protections will count against it. If magic hits you, it's incoming damage is rolled against a randomly selected slot out of 5 (which means you should carefully choose blue crystals you use in your armor/shield). Elemental protections are thus also counted on per-hit-per-area basis.

If you drink a resistance potion or cast a protective buff, it applies its effect uniformly on all pieces (as shown by its shimmering effect). The cap for non-physical protections is 85%, so if you drink a potion that gives 60% to poison and have dragon boots that give e.g. 40% to poison, if someone hits you with poisonous damage and boots are selected, you're still counted as vulnerable for 15% of that damage.

As devs have stated, if you wear a full single set (5/5 shown on each of the parts), then each of the parts will gain an invisible +10% bonus to sharp/blunt damage. So dragonscale will lose out in terms of protections only to a fully upgraded, fully gemmed, half-plate armor set (5/5) like Orc Slayer's or Dwarven Pride.

Set stats shown for bucket helmet, kettle helmet, battle capeline, "samurai" helmet, etc. only inform you of the total amount of such types (x/11).

That's why a paperdoll, while useful, isn't really needed. What is needed is a solid amount of in-game tips and suggestions that explain all that clearly. Plus a timer for buffs/debuffs, and a status of buffs/debuffs, but we've been asking for that for like 3 years so doubt they'll do it :P

Re: Dragon Scale Armor - bonus content

@propheet
wow thats alot to take in, ok now i sorta understand protection abit more thankyou, how do i work out where a type of enemy is going to attack, i ask this as i haven't noticed anything in the game attack any different, as far as im aware they all hit dead on to the chest / back

is their a tell-tail sign of sorts that shows were they hit and what armor region/slot,

thank you for supplying me with information, i new nothing of this before you mentioned it, i really think if some one could make a mod which gave tips then that would be extremely helpful.

i dont think anywhere in the manual or in game does it tell me any of this. how did /where did you get this information?

Re: Dragon Scale Armor - bonus content

They attack were you let them attack, Damien. If you stand so that your shield is attacked, your shield is attacked... if you stand so that you're above your enemy, its attacks will go to your legs/feet. I think hands are the only place you cannot "force" your enemy to attack. Also, keep in mind that back is counted somewhat differently too, with cloak very helpful (almost a necessity for running-away mages ) against attacks from the back on top of the protections added by chestpiece and legs (AFAIK only two of the elements are counted when attacked from the back, and shield only takes part in the equation from the front left; front right+all back are your most vulnerable regions by default, perhaps gloves are for active blocked hits reduction from the front?).

Most of the infos are from devs. Otherwise, it's all trial/error, plus shield infos are thanks to JackBaldy's shield tests.

You can find all of the interesting infos at Two Worlds Vault, I try to add interesting bits to FAQ there (scroll down all the way in FAQ to see TW2 tips), all of the current guides should help you out with the most pressing issues. And, barring that, you can always just ask like you did in TW1.

Welcome back, by the way.
