dual wield combat system problems

dual wield combat system problems

hmm i think the combat system has a dual weapon error.. ok ive always used two weapons in this game and i was in a cave and i desired to just leave one weapon one touch as it was a week enemy.. well i fount what i think to be a flaw in the game

i have two axes identical stats.. both deal 271 damage...with one out i deal 271 damage per-hit...with two out i would expect to deal 542 damage OR hit faster... well ive timed the attack speed and i hit at the same rate, all that happens is the alternate hand hits the creature each hit..

so basicly i do no extra damage with dual vs single weapon HMMM why is this i wonder... in every other games ive played its not like this

also when i do a run + dual weapon attack.. the animation shows both weapons striking the NPC but i only deal 271 damage. so even during this attack which shows both weapons hitting at once it still failed to provide dual damage

I use right - axe, left - mace. Both strike and damage plus both have different skills

can you confirm this via screenshots please, can you do a screen shot of each weapon and its damage then with both, i think you'll find that it only hits one weapon per time.

thank you, i also take it you have damage stats turned on in menu??

Yes it hits one weapon at a time, and no it's not useless even if so. The idea is for you to combine many types of damages in a single weaponry set. Mixing and matching speeds will improve your overall responsiveness of comboes in dualwielding. Using two of the same weapon gets you nothing from the design standpoint of this ability.

thank you so i have two options really

slash/blunt + shield = limited damage and will have to swap the slash/blunt depending on the creature but extra armour

slash + blunt = overall more damage depending on creature and its resistance to each effect


hmm not like most games but it could be interesting, also with me creating a new thread, how do i complete a combo i just hit hit hit hit hit untill their dead but every so ofter i drop to a cut scene and do a COMBO/BONUS move as i call it, what is this and how do i perfect it

Shield is a blunt weapon in TW2 as much as (flawed) defensive aid. Look into it.

If your opponent is down and you L/click ONCE again then the finishing move kicks in if you keep mashing the button then you just get a standard attack

Once you have learned the skills from the books available at some vendors or from finding them as quest rewards/loot the special attacks appear in positions 1 2 & 3 on your hotbar, these are applied automatically depending on what weapons you have equipped, so there is no need to try and stick them on the hotbar manually. If they are available then they will appear in bright gold, if you haven't learned a skill or it is re-charging then it will be greyed out. To use the special attacks hit the corresponding number key.

There're also two special attacks built-into the system, counterstrike and short-charge. Counterstrike you are informed about of by Rogdor early on. To perform it, stand in defensive stance and wait for the enemy to attack you. Immediately after they perform their attack, click (once -- not too many times or it will break the sequence in some cases). Short-charge is performed by pressing jump button and attack button either at the same time or one after another. This attack will feign a dodge backwards, then press your character's attacks forward in a speedy fashion. Again, if you click too many times, the sequence will break. Shortcharge can deal several blows to a few enemies at once. Counterstrike is designed to help when being overwhelmed by enemies and can deliver damage to many opponents around you at once (depending on weaponry used).
