I'd like to make a small correction here, I don't know where GS got 7.5 square miles for Gothic 3 but they are very wrong, the game world is a lot bigger. More like 27 square miles, maybe they missed a 2, don't know. So it's the biggest one out of your list. Based on a lot of factors, but this is still just guessing until we have the game, Gothic 4 should be smaller then Two Worlds 2, not by much, maybe a few square miles, but both are definitely bigger then Oblivion.
Great! I am open to corrections. But can you get these specs from the devs or from another Article?? they even said it was smaller than oblivions map and we all know that is 16 square miles.
If you can give me the article or something that has been announced in an interview then I will be happy to make the correction. ;o)
Bottom line for me: Two worlds 2 is freakin huge, and that makes me happy enough to wait another THREE MONTHS without too much complaint.

SLAM YOUR FACE ON THE KEYBOARD: About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him-and I didn't know how potent that part might be-that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
Let's not forget that there is further content planned, and maybe even under development, as we speak. So the final size of TW2 will remain a mystery until such times as the new stuff get's released.

Yeah, I am just basing it off of what I have read. Anyways. IF you want to count the main land only...then it is as big as oblivion. But come on...there are Islands....so it is bigger...
I was going off by the landmass at initial release. Gothic, oblivion, and even sacred has expansions and those were not counted.
I didn't know of any expansion for Gothic 3, but the other 2 had new maps for the expansions seperate from the initial game map, I've got the impression that the extra content for TW2 will be by way of further islands or a continent and that's the reason for having an initial map that includes so much water.

It was a German interview a long time ago, before Gothic 3 was released, I specifically remember they talked about 70 square km (27 square miles) and back then I knew Oblivion was around 40. I can't find it anymore but I know it was "gameswelt".
It's probably a little exaggerated now that I think about it, but Gothic 3 was definitely up there with Oblivion, so a lot more then just 7.5 square miles.

The frozen waste area was also very cleverly built as the raised area overhung the lower levels and that in effect added to the available game area. It was also a complete pig to navigate around! I would guess that area was 7.5 sq. miles in its-self.

I made the foolish mistake of going to the frozen waste area before I went to the desert and it was a pain, pure utter pain. It took me hours to get from one point to the other and the creatures were so strong around those parts. But ultimately it all rounded out in an amazing experience. Can't say the same about Oblivion even with the 50+ hours I spent in it.

Yeah, it did take some dedication to get anywhere and, if like me, you're a nut that tries to uncover all the map areas then you can find yourselg going around in circles for hours just trying to find a way up to that last little point of greyed out area! Oblivion is nothing more than a walk in the park!
A big map and huge distances are'nt often as good as a "smaller" one. If the enviroment, the cities/villages and so on good implemented then we will have more fun with a "smaler" map than a bigger one.
They already mentioned that they will release dlc's, i personal think that they will bring new islands because the water is much bigger than the landmass (25kmē landmass against 35kmē water).
I would love to see a dlc with a snowy alps area that gets really strong blizzards making it tougher to see. that would be fun. I like snow since I am from north Sweden where it snows alot.
