With a story set seven years after the first Two Worlds - just in case you were keeping track of these things - with the Orcs nearly entirely exterminated by the evil Gandohar, it's up to you to set things straight, even if that means working with an old enemy.
Narrative aside, the first thing that stands out about the sequel is that it's not exactly ugly any more. Kicking off in a huge dungeon, there are plenty of opportunities to take in the improvements to the game engine. Chains hanging from ceilings ripple in the breeze, torches splutter and spark on the walls, sending out real-time shadows, and everywhere you look water is running over stone rather prettily.
Reality Pump has three different versions of its proprietary Grace engine running - one for each platform, covering the PC, PS3, and 360 | ... [Read More]

Mirek Dymek, CEO Reality Pump speaks about Exploration in the first part of our ongoing series of interviews, designed to shed a bit more light onto the soon-to-be-released sequel to Two Worlds… Topics covered will include Exploration, Combat, Magic and Multiplayer – so stay tuned @ TWVault for more in-depth infos on Two Worlds 2!
TWVault: So we’re basically talking about one of the biggest – and most seamless - free-roamer out there. Exploration-wise, we’ve seen sailing, swimming, horse-riding, teleportation and on-foot transportation.... There’s also been some talk about a few other methods, namely flight. Will the players have the above-ground ‘airborne’ exploration?
Mirek Dymek: You've nailed them all... sailing, swimming, etc.. We haven't implemented | ... [Read More]

Two Worlds II Preview @ OXM US |

“Laughable.” “Frustrating.” “Hokey.” The creators of action-RPG Two Worlds have heard it all, and then some.
“We realize we made mistakes with the first game,” admits Bert Jennings, producer at TopWare Interactive. And we’d agree: While it earned a cult following, Two Worlds had plenty of issues, ranging from an unbearable framerate to dreadful dialogue, from maddeningly difficult gameplay to an overall density that turned away casual gamers.
After viewing an early version of Two Worlds II, however, we suspect this sequel should wash away much of the bad taste its 2007 predecessor may have left in your golden goblet. Hey, everyone deserves a second chance, right?

Two Worlds 2 First Look Preview @ Videogamer |

Our tour of Two Worlds II's fantasy-filled open world - sort of like a virtual sneak preview of a holiday abroad - takes in locales as exotic as medieval, Persian and oriental style cities, as well as dour swamp, beach and island areas. It's all suitably varied, and the open world vistas are great. Even the motion capture work - easily fluffed - looks top notch. Horseback riding - one of the first game's key components - returns, but this time it's is supported by some quality animations. Reality Pump and TopWare have drafted in the services of the same equestrian mo-cap studio (yes, that's right, a mo-cap studio dedicated to horses) used by Ubisoft for the Assassin's Creed games. You buy a set number of horses, apparently, and a set number of animations. Bizarre.
